Indications

Eruptive epidemic diseases with dark red or purplish tongue; mumps; pharyngitis, laryngitis, scarlet fever; erysipelas; carbuncles

Research Findings

  • Isatis root eyedrops have an excellent efficacy and safety on the acute bacterial conjunctivitis.[1]
  • Huanglan Granule (containing isatis root) has obvious inhibitory effect on rubella virus. [2]

Cautions

Contraindicated in deficiency-cold of the spleen

Report on adverse effect

Different formulations can cause systemic adverse reactions, anaphylactic shock, thrombocytopenic purpura, hemolytic reaction, diarrhea, etc. [3]
