Indications
Jaundice caused by damp-heat; swelling and itching of the vulva with leukorrhalgia; prolonged erection; eczema accompanied with itching; bloodshot eyes, poor hearing, pain in the costal regions and bitter taste in the mouth; convulsion
Research Findings
- Genus Gentiana had broad bioactivities such as antifungal activity, anti-inflammatory activity and liver protective effect.[1]
- The plants of Sect. Aptera (Gentiana L.) mainly contain iridoids, triterpenes and steroids, and possess anti-inflammatory, analgesia, stomach invigorate and bacteria inhibitory effects, etc.[2]
Cautions
Contraindicated in deficiency-cold of the spleen. Should be used with extra care in case of yin deficiency and fluid depletion
Report on adverse effect
May cause impairment of digestion and, occasionally, headaches, flushing of the face and vertigo when taken after a meal [3]
