Indications

Afternoon fever and night sweating in consumptive disease, steaming bone; cough, hemoptysis and epistaxis due to heat in the lung; wasting-thirst caused by internal heat

Research Findings

  • Lycii RadicisCortex (LRC) extract prevened the OVX-induced bone mass density loss in mice via promoting the differentiation of osteoblast linage cells. (1)
  • Diabetic rats treated with ethanol extracts of Cortec Lycii Radicis had better improvement in insulin resistancw (2)

Cautions

Contraindicated in febrile illnesses due to exogenous wind–cold, and in loose feces due to spleen insufficiency
