Sore throat and painful swollen gums due to accumulation of toxic-heat
Research Findings
- Shaogen Decoction (consisted of Radix Sophorae tonkinensis) acted, in coordinating with chemo-radiotherapy, to reduce the incidence, retard the happening and shorten the retaining time of 2nd or over 2nd grade acute radiation esophagitis, and reduce the proportion of patients needing antibiotics and hormone treatment as well, showing equivalent efficacy in treating acute radiation esophagitis as Western drugs.[1]
Cautions
Very bitter and cold. If overdose occurs, it may cause vomiting, diarrhea, chest tightness, palpitations. Should be used with caution in deficiency-cold of the spleen
